hello i was getting advice on a tank set up in the newbie section. ive had freashwater for a long time and am upgrading to a 90g and i wanted to make it saltwater. the main reason is when im more experianced i wanted a blue spot ray
http://www.angelfire.com/il2/aquaria/bluespot.html
i saw it at a store and loved it ever since. i know they live along a reef so id assume its ok to set a bit of reef in the tank however i was wondering cause of his diet wouldnt he eat the bloodshrimp and the others in the packages u can get?
is there any way i can have reef with having the blood shrimp etc. or any ideas on fish the can stay with him???
thank you for ur time

sorry to spoil the evening.........
1. Blue spots are very hard to keep for periods of time longer than a year
(I'm not saying it's not possible, just very hard from what I've read)
2. You need a bigger tank, your tank is way too small.

Yeah tony's right blue spots are best left to experienced shark/ray keeper that are prepared to loose $60-$90. I had one that adapted unusally well to my tank but was eventually killed from stress caused by a shark tankmate.

oh nonono sorry i was leaving it til i was alot more experianced lol i wasnt gonna get it anytime soon but i wanted to set the tank up with tankmates that it could stay with for eventually when i am good enough to keep one. i dont like it when things die cause of ignorance i wouldnt get anything im not prepared for when i go salt water i have no idea what to do with my ropefish ive grown an attachment to all my fish so has my fiancee. so i will leave it till im experianced enough but i didnt what to have to change my tank when i do get that experianced

Wow $150 is alot. Around here they're usually $60-$70, with some as high as $90 but thats it. A tank for one would need atleast a 2ft width and 5 or 6ft length. Height isnt that important and remember the wider the better.
