real....chromatophores in the octopus skin allow it to change to its surroundings....i would say octopus is 1 of the smartest creatures in the sea...it is definitely the smartest invert and closely ranks up there with verts like dolphins...there have been studies showing how they learn and certain behaviors they pick up are from their surroundings
