Both of those shrimp you named are really cool.
I don't know about requiring much work, though. All shrimps are difficult to acclimate and are very sensitive to even small differences in water parameters.

I currently keep three peppermints and a pair of scarlet cleaners. I hope to eventually add a pair of blood reds and a pair of sexy....if I can locate them locally for a decent price. I have avoided coral banded shrimp due to agression issues and harliquins because of specific diet requirements.

Thats a really crappy deal. Why dont you order some from this site? Get a peice of coral along with em!

yea, both are expensive, I paid 18.00 for a cleaner and 20.00 for a blood at an LFS. I hardly ever get to see the blood too. It makes it all that much more special when he does come out.

The only problem I've seen with any shrimp, Is that if you have a lot of rock, You never see them! I have six peppermint shrimp and none of them come out until the lights are out. If there are any shrimp that stay out I would like to know.

I have 3 bloood reds and to peppermints. I found that when there are at least two they do not hide much. They are social, Try to get at least of one species. They are sensitive to water changes so acclimately slowly. They are always everyones favorite. If you have patience, hand feed them and they will not hide as often.

I have two cleaners, 5 peppermints, one coral banded and a camel back. The cleaners and the cora banded are always out the others come out just at night. But I love my shrimp. I had a fire shrimp but the starfish I had ate him.

I see my cleaner shrimp all the time, as well as my 2 monkey shrimp. I dont know if they are reef safe, but so far they havent caused any problems, had them for about a week. Pretty cool little fellas.

My peacock mantis shrimp stays out most of the time and is most increadibly cool...she is completely fuge safe lol.
PS
This was a poke, I am not recommending a mantis for your reef tank, but mine is most cool.

Mine are out all of the time and I can't do any work in the tank without this happening
Gives a person a bit of a complex about my hand washing practices, eh? :notsure:
