cooling fans

Ok. I plan to get either 2 radio shack fans or 2 computer fans tonight and wire them to a 12v converter so I can just plug them into my powerstrip. Should I be looking for fans with a cfm over a certain amount? How about noise level, should I look for fans with a certain decibal rating?
These will be on/in the canopy of my 55 gallon tank. I have 4-60watt PC bulbs in my retrofit kit and am still using the glass lids on my tank over the water - I'm scared one of my 4 curious kitties will try to climb in the back opening of the canopy and end up swimming, so I have to keep the glass lids on the tank. I am also considering using fiberglass screen material to make lids for the tank rather than keeping the glass lids...we'll see.
Last question, should I put the fans in the back opening of my canopy (one on the right side and one on the left)? I really don't want to go cutting into the sides of the canopy if I don't have to and I can't really put it in the top of the canopy because of the retrofit lighting. What have other people done?

bump :)
please, any suggestions, anyone?
I plan on starting this project tonight after work and any advice would be helpful (besides what I've already learned from a search on "cooling fans") Thanks!

You might want to search on a certain auction site for cooling fans, I got a couple for 25buck that have a probe that controls the speed of the fans the hotter they get and they are already wired to plug right into an outlet.
