Copper based treatment

Is is true that once you add this to your tank, it will never leave the tank. And that you can never have inverts again?

It depends. If you use copper in a tank with no rock or substrate then the copper will only soak into the silicone. Very tiny amounts would leech back out. If you use it in a tank with rock and sand then there will be problems. Rock and sand soak up copper like a sponge. They then release the copper back out over time, so you would not be able to keep inverts.

Well I removed all the rocks before the treatment. Then I replaced the carbon in my filter and removed all the sand and crushed coral to get rid of my underground filter. I replaced the rocks back in after a water change and letting the carbon filter the water for at least 24 hours? Am I in the clear?

This was done after the copper treatment was complete, with the exception of the rock? Was the rock in with the copper? Did you throw out all of the sand and CC that was in during copper treatment? Carbon will remove some of the copper. Did you test the copper prior to adding the rock back in?

No the rock was never in with the copper. I removed it first before starting the treatment. Yes I threw out all the sand minus the few pieces I couldn't scoop out. What is CC? I have not been able to find copper test kit at the store I shop at so I don't know what the copper level was, or if any traces remain.
But I only did a day and a second day dose at about half of the amount of the copper treatment.

I do have turbo snails that have been in the tank now since Saturday and the are still living. Is this a good sign?

Thanks I really appreciate this. Was it hard to redo the silicone seal if this be that route I need to take in the future?
No not really. The hard part was taking a 110G tank off the stand and finding an area to put it away from the cats so the i could get the new silicone on it and dried.
