Copperband

I am thinking about getting a Copperband Butterfly for my tank. Mainly to eat and rid my tank of aiptasia. I've heard a lot of them are difficult to get to eat. How hard are these fish to keep? Are they really sensitive? I currently have a blue hippo, maroon clown, chromis and a flame angel. Will a Copperband be fine with these fish? My water parameters are perfect and not an issue. Thanks for any input.

How big a tank? CBs are difficult, but not impossible. IME, they really need quiet, non aggressive tankmates. If the maroon clown is a typical one, he could be real trouble to a sensitive newcomer, they like to consider the whole tank their territory.

Yea, Maroons can be a handfull. They are strong ******** decorators and always the king of the tank. (in their minds at least)

i have a big tank but my maroon clown hates my copperbanded, but they deal with each other. if you're looking to get rid of aiptasia by using a fish i would suggest a threadfin butterfly. they are much better at it and a lot more hardy. at least in my experience. my threadfin had all my aiptasia gone in like a day. i let my dad use it in his tank for a bit but his tank had a heater malfunction and killed his fish. i decided to throw a copperband in my tank and he took forever to take care of the aiptasia but still hasn't taken care of it all. i've had him for at least 4 months.

I've been told on several occasions that CBBs need to be Awffully hungry to eat the aptasia. Why eat fish sticks when lobster tail is available? They like the mysis better.

I've always though that aiptasia control might be a nice fringe benefit from a CB; but certainly not the main reason to get this beautiful, but touchy fish. There are many other ways to deal with the aiptasia.
