What kind of corals did you order? Also, what kind of lighting setup do you have, also what is your calcium level, also what is your nitrate level. Also what is your average ph?.....

1 mushroom, 1 zoo, and 1 ginopora? I have 350 watt halide bulbs. I have no idea what the calcium level of the tank is but I did get a block of food for the corals I think it has calcium. Is this a good idea. I need to check my nitrate level but my nitrite and ammonia levels are good.

The Goniopora is a gonner. Just chalk it up to lesson learned. I believe most of us started with this mistake (I know i did).
If you're going to keep corals you'll need a set of really good test kits. I strongly recommend Hach or Salifert. This site sells Salifert for a great price.
Required test kits:
Nitrate
Ammonia
Calcium
ALK
PH
Temperature
Desired kits:
Magnesium
Phosphate
Borate
To answer the question.
In my experience Calcium and Carbonate (for ALK) are the major additives. Magnesium occationally. I use Calcium hydroxide (Kalk) for both Calcium and Carbonate.

It's one of those animals we just don't know enough about. There has been success but nobody has yet documented what causes that success.
After it dies, just don't get another and discourage others from buying one.

If and when coral dies. Should I keep any in the tank or remove them imediately. Some hard corals look good even dead.
Also are there any recomended additives for the other corals I bought.

it's been hypothesized that iron and manganese may be one of the ingredients to keeping the goniopora alive.. since you have it, might as well add this as well. kent sells both in one bottle. also, buy some marine snow or other phytoplankton... they've cut open goniopora and found this food source in them.... good luck...

Does anybody have any experience with B-Ionic Calcium Buffer? Is that a good additive to use for Calcium and Alkilinity?
