Coral and live ???'s

Can I use some pieces of large coral as base rock? I have had these pieces for years, they are very nice pieces.
Also can I mix sand types? (cured and live).

Is it real coral from the ocean or fake stuff? If it real I would think you could. You can use some types of play sand and seed it with live sand....JMO

yes this is real coral from the ocean... if I place LR in with it will it grow on the coral also?
So I can buy regular sand and buy LS for lfs and they will grow.

Yes to both but you may want to cure the dead coral in some salt water for a few days.
