Hm, if I were a CBS in that tank I would not play around either.
I watched them VERY close at first. Trigger was aggressive toward him one time and the CBS stood his ground and that was the end of it. I floated the CBS for 2 days in a specimen container so trigger could see it, but not eat it. I don't know if this made a difference, but he's still alive.
Here are some recent pics of the 72 bow.

CBS - in a large 210 g system is and always has been a terror. Newly acclimated fish are great table fare for him. Have now witness him take out a mandarin, paddlefins, purple firefish, emerald crabs, and try the blue hippo.
When this one dies I will never replace it. I have had fireshrimp with no legs or claws survive a battle with him. He is the undisputed ruler of the right side of my tank. Every once in awhile I think about catching him out at night and just gigging him. Yet he is an awsome creature (red white & blue) and my lack of research caused his purchase, so killing him for being himself doesn't seem reasonable. Whatever you put into your tank was your decision, it's part of the husbandry - so research everything!

yea Dennis try at night with a food trap as suggested, they hunt for food at night mostly my does anyway. Can you put him in your sump/fuge after you catch him?

I've had one in my 75 for about a year and a half now and he has been fine so far. He does reach out for a Chromis every now and then if it swims too close to the cave he's claimed as his own, but they are too fast for him. I've never seen him trying to grab either of the clowns that I have or the lawnmower blenny, who likes to perch right next to his cave. Never seen him bother any of my hermits either. I do not have any other shrimp in the tank though. I'd like to add a couple of peppermints and fire shrimp but I think they may make too tempting a target for him.

I have had one in my 55 for a couple months now. He is the prime suspect in ruining my successful keeping of 2 dwarf angels in the same tank. The 2 angels had been in the tank together for over 8 months with only aggression being exhibited at the beginning (first 2 days). Last week, I noticed that my keyhole's fins were being chewed on. I had to remove nearly all of my LR (over 80lbs) to catch the angel...luckily we have my wife's tank upstairs that had recently lost its coral beauty, so we had a place to take the poor keyhole (which seems to be doing better now). Ever since I have removed the keyhole, the CBS has been on its best behavior...partly because my eibli doesn't take any crap from anyone in my tank (and stays away from the CBS, for the most part)....though...come to think of it, my yellowtail damsel hasn't been seen in quite some time

Every time these CBS threads pop up I have a new story starring my CBS. Last night I saw mine with what looked like a HUGE and FAT bristle/fire worm in it's clutches, the thing was almost the size of the CBS. I couldn't figure out what it was that he had caught until I remembered that he had pulled one of my feather duster worms into the rockwork a few days ago and here he had finally pulled the worm out of it's tube and was eating it!
At any rate, I've been trying to find someone to take him with little success and I don't have a fuge setup in my new tank yet, so he's just sorta hanging out, causing trouble still.

Oh, and I took pics, just need to get them off my digital...

Hey Everybody,
Feel free to send any unwanted CBS to me! My reef aquariums are generally fish free, and I've kept CBS in them for years with no problems. So I will be more than happy to take these guys off your hands and provide them with a good home ~ free of charge!

Mine has been in my tank for over a year and was very agressive until he lost his pincher and antenna's in a battle with my trigger, needless to say that put him in check. He hides under a rock that allows as a cleaning station and a few fish take advantage of it.

i have had my reef tank up for nearly 2 years now...i bought a CBS when i first started because i liked the look of him...he has never killed anything...but i have always kept him with semi-agressive reef fish such as damsels, maroon clowns, and even a fuzzy dwarf lionfish...he has never attributed to the death of any of my fish...however i have seen him get angry and flair his claws several times at fish...

i think having him in there first is the best idea and in a big tank with live rock, and let him settle into his territory...and then add ur fish, but idk....woudl that work?
