Well I guess that might explain the nip marks. It doesn't really look like a bite but more of a tear. ok then thanks for the info

is the clown smaller than the CBS?? I just noticed last night that my CBS goes after things smaller than him (like my peppermint shrimp and my clown goby). My clown goby was having unexplained nipping marks in his fins...and now i think i know why. The clown goby doesn't act stressed and looks GREAT -the ratty looking fins :(
Bratty CBS. He actually went looking for them to chase them. He was at the other side of the tank and went running after them. hehe was funny to watch but i felt really bad.
I hope they start getting along.
Good LUCK!

I took my coral banded back last week, after he took a chunk out of my gold maroon clown and ate a bunch of my snails. The little booger even attacked me when I tried to do water changes. He was a nasty nasty dude, stealing shrimp pellets from my brittle stars, dominating the tank. Now that he's gone, my clown fish actually leaves his anemone, and my two brittle stars come out of their hiding spaces.

yeah they do get mean, i saw mine with one of my peppermints head, and eating it, kindas sucks, so i guess my other peppermints better be sneaky.

Well I think I will have to try to catch him and take him and trade him in. I lost a brittle star about 5 months ago... I bet it was him. My CBS is alot bigger than my clown and I don't have anything for the clown to go into. I have too many corals to have an anemone floating around burning them up. well thanks for the stories and advice.

Coral Banded should not be kept with shrimp or crabs. I've never heard of attacking snails or fish, but you guys have proven that they do. I detest coral bandeds. There are so many more nicer looking shrimp that you can't keep if you have this (in my opinion) average-looking species.

My CB by no means is small and they can be rather mean, but you know that when you purchase it though!!!! He is fun to watch and he will go after my 2 big yellow tangs at feeding time and it's like they play a game with him and they keep coming back trying to intice him out!!!! But bottom line don't keep with other shrimp cause you won't have them long...

he hasn't bothered my two cleaner shrimp...maybe they are too fast for him. and I haven't been noticing any snails gone. still a bunch in there...but I have to get him out. Any ideas on catching one in a 120 gal with about 300 pounds of live rock?????(grin)
Thanks again

I think my cbs is confused. He is under the assumption that he is actually a cleaner shrimp. I had a small outbreak of ich a few months ago, and he actually picked off the yellow tang and clown fish!
I do spot feed him when i spot feed my brittles and orange linkia, so he may be spoiled now and full all the time!
He never exhibits any mean streak at all, and is a blast to watch
