Coral Banded Shrimp

I purchased a coral banded shrimp, 2 sea urchins (not sure which one specifically) and a stripped legged hermit crab. Literally, within maybe an hour or two, the shrimp was dead.
I have live rocks, 2 Chromis along with a dotty back (black and white stripped). Water tested ok.
Now, within this same week, the two sea urchins died. (I told the LFS that I do not have really any algae), so they may have starved.
But the Hermit crab is doing fine. I have been hiding krill for him in the CC. What else should I feed the poor guy? I don't want to make the same mistake twice!

Also, the guy (LFS) told me to turn my lights off at night. No one has ever told me this before. Any suggestions? Also, the owner of this "place" said that they do not guranty their SWF. I found that to be odd.. Is this the norm in the SW world? He said that there are too many factors (other than those that which we test for) that can cause the fish to die. I am thinking that I will not purchase anymore fish from them.
:help:

How old is your tank?

How big is your tank?

Coral Banded Shrimp are semi aggressive
Hermit crabs are pretty hardy
not many places offer guarantees on SWF except for SWF.COM
Leave your lights on 8-10 hours a day no more than that although there will be diff. opinions about that, its just what I do. Also how did you acclimate your fish err inverts??

most places do guarentee thier stuff at least 24 hrs most online places alive arrival through a week or 2
probably happened by poor acclimation
or a young tank
light probably don't want to run more than 8-12 hrs

Sorry about that... my tank is 60 gallons and has been up and running for approximately 1 1/2, 2 mos. I am a bit "scary" so I called myself taking things slow, and add fish slowly and gradually.
How would you have "acclimated" the shrimp to the tank? Should I consider getting another one?
Ok, 8-10 hours for the lighting...but they guy made a big deal about me using the lights during the night time. This is when I would like to use them. During the day, the blinds are closed (due to the Texas heat). Why can't I have the lights on during the day?
Thank you for your responses. I know that I am full of questions. So please bare with me.

you can have it as a reversed light cycle i.e. 8p.m.-4a.m. or however you choose but you don't want light on your tank 24-7
look at this sites acclimation link
it's the all around best way to acclimate ANYTHING you can not go wrong with the drip method
but with the pouring water into a bag method you can kill many animals like linkia starfish for example that are way more touchy to changes in water parameters
