The title of the thread pretty much sums it up. Just bought this thing, and already the freakin CB is nipping at it, but not biting anything off. Almost looks like he is picking stuff off of it. Also, the Xenia will be doing fine, then all the branches will droop closer toward the ground. What's yall's input on this? thanxz

My advice, and my opinion, is if the CB is not killing it....ride it out and do NOT change anything. A lot of times making changes is much worse than letting things take their course. If he is eating it or killing it......different story. CB are not really partial to xenias in my experience, so keep him well fed and hopefully he is just tasting it to see if it is food since it is new. If it doesn't work out.....I personally would prefer a CB over xenias anyway. Any reef I have nowadays has a coral beauty in it. Just my opinion....moving the fish to another tank and back stresses the fish........moving the coral around stresses the coral....if you plan on keeping the fish......just ride it out......if he eats it....fine, you know not to buy another xenia, but if he gets bored and decides it doesn't taste all that great....super.....you have both. We put things in our tanks from all over the place........things that don't even see each other in nature.....basically fish have to taste new things because they have no idea if they are food or not.....hopefully he won't like it. Just my opinion.

Your'e a CB fan too eh? It is a thoughy b/t the flame and CB. I cut the top off a clear plastic 20 oz. coke bottle and put it over the xenia which is in the sand. I cut large holes (too small for the CB) all over the bottle to let the water in and out. Can you actually condition these fish not to pick, or should I just try riding it out like you said? Thanx!

I say ride it out I like coral beauty angels but mine has an issue with other fish. since he is a long lived fish I will probaby not get another one he is great with inverts but bad with fish. I take the good with the bad. but will not get rid of my coral beauty I love him but yes he is a head case some times. had him for about 4 years hes grown on me.
