Coral Beauty tail appears to be dissolving

I've had a coral beauty for almost a week and his tail looks as if its dissolving or falling apart as best I can describe. He is very active and eats well. What could this be? He's in a 125 with a clown, melanurus wrasse, naso tang, pink square anthias and 3 green chromis. I am so puzzled because my tank has been doing so well - never any real problems. Thanks for your help!

Hard to tell from just your description. My guess is that the fish is suffering from aggression from another fish. Eventually, the fish will end up dead if this is the case. Can you post a picture of the sick fish's fins?

Thanks for your response. I have never seen any aggression towards him from any other fish, and his tail has a chunk missing at the end, like it could be a bite. But his tail also has complete holes thru it. Hard to imagine that would be from a bite. Anyway, I took pics from my phone, but still trying to figure out how to upload on here from it.

It is definitely aggression. I suggest isolating him. Do you have a quarantine tank?
