I think I might wait a bit before getting a pygmy angel. It will have a far better chance at thriving in a more mature tank. I would start with one of the hardier fish, like a clown. I would wait on the angel for 6 months or so.

Hi Perry,
The Coral Beauty's a great choice. Mine's so beautiful I named her 'Bella'. :)
One tip I can offer: Coral Beauty's vary considerably in colour, so you might not want to buy the first one you see. Have a look at two or three before you decide.
best regards.

I've had a coral beauty for about eight months, and it's been through a lot. If your water quality is good and you can't wait, youshould purchase some kind of dried seawweed or algae because coral beautys are grazers. In an underestablished tank he may not have enough green food to keep him happy.

I would hold off on the CB, your tank is not mature enuff. Start off with a clown fish, damsal or perhaps a royal grammy. If this fish do good for 3 or 4 weeks then i would check my tank for ammonia and nitrite.
If your tank reads zero on both then i would get a CB.

Everybody says to wait 6 months before introducing an angel but I took the chance and intro'd mine in the 4th month after my tank was set up and right now he's doing awesome. He's the most active, colorful, and just the best fish in my 40 gallon. I would get seaweed selects too because they do need they're greens-mine devours them!

I would wait at least another week to make sure everything is stable. If you do decide to buy one make sure you see him eat and not just pick. Coral beauties are a hit and miss kind of fish some do great a lot dont. Pick a healthy specimen with NO signs of disease.

Love 'em. Call mine "The Don" 'cos he's the boss. Beautiful deep blue color. I waited to check out a few fish before I found one that had the right attitude, color (for me), condition etc. Would also suggest that if you commit to an angel now, think about whether you're going to try keeping it with other dwarf angels later, and think about how to introduce them. Maybe better to wait and really look around at other angels to make sure this is the species and the individual you want.
Like others have said, great fish.
