coral compatability

just finished reading some books on corals. seemed like everythign wants to fight each other. felt overwhelmed. then i go to my lfs and there a 275 with pretty much every square inch covered with corals. most were touching each other. when i asked a kid that worked there if alot of the corals die he said he had been there for 2 years and that for th emost part nothign really died. what gives, shouldnt all these corals be killing each other?

alot of corals can actualy touch eachother, certain corals are very aggressive and other pasive, take for instance you wouldnt want to put a hydnopora(aggressive) next to a digitata(pasive), alot of different montiporas can grow next to each other, and pretty much everykind of softcoral can be next to other soft corals, like zoos, shrooms, even leathers, could all be close.
