Coral Heaven

Does anyone use this product to feed your corals? If so, how long have you been using it and how do you like it? Is it worth the expense of having it shipped from Hawaii? I have a small sample bag of it that came with an order and have used it just a few times. Corals seem to like it, but am wondering if anyone has any long term experience with it.

Only started using it about 7-8 weeks ago.
I get it from a place in Michigan - 45 minutes from where I live - they mix it up right in front of you.
Corals seem to dig it. It's easy to target feed.
I like it so far, but don't have much long term experience using it.

slothy,
Do a Google.com search for Coral Heavan ;)
You'll find it.
There's only two places in the U.S. that sell it.
Hawaii and the place in Michigan.

Thanks for the input Broomer. I've been using it twice a week as a target food, but still dosing with DT's every now and then too. I think I'll give up the DT's for a while and just use the coral heaven and see how it goes. Keep me posted if you would about your experiences with it. Seems like a great coral food so far!
By the way...when you get yours, are the particles completely dissolved or do you target feed the larger corals with the particulate? No matter how much I shake this stuff, there are always particles remaining.
Okay...I edited out the name of the place in Michigan!

Yeah - when you mix it with saltwater - there's the clearish watery stuff, and the thicker solids at the bottom.
They call it a slurry.
I target feed the clear stuff to corals with small polyps ( sps & stars, etc. ) and the solids go to the LPS.
Did you get the instruction sheet with your trial sample ?
If not let me know - I can email it to you ( or you can find it on the internet too ;) )

Hi Broomer- There were no instructions with the sample at all. Just the bag itself. I went to their website though and looked around and found the directions. Mix 1 teaspoon with 8 oz of seawater and target feed. I presume this means mix a fresh batch each time, so that's how I've been doing it. If you have any different instructions, please let me know!
Different topic...remember when you posted about plumbing my two sumps together? Can't find the post and I'm about ready to redo the plumbing so I can start using the second overflow on that 150 again. The 20 high that is under the tank is glass and the main sump which is 10 or so feet away is acrylic. Do I drill them both and fit them with 1 1/2" bulkhead fittings and hard plumb them that way? Is there an easier way?

Yep - you got the instructions right ;)
I only use about 1/4 teaspoon of the stuff - cause a full teaspoon leaves me way too much leftover. I like to lightly feed this stuff.
Anyway - we'll move to the other topic.
I found the old post and bumped it.
We can continue over there if that's okay ~ but I gotta go now ~ so I won't be able to post there for awhile.
I'm sure others would be glad to help out too
See ya:)
