coral hiding?

I got a few peices of LR with this coral on it. They are extended out like in the pics when the T5's and lunar LEDs are on, but when I fire up the MH lights, they retract until the MH are off. Do they need to adjust to the bright lighting or something?
Just curious, i'm new, and this is the first experience i've had w/ coral.

lots of corals fling out the feeding tenticles when the primary lights go out (candy cane, brain, acans to name a few) while others (hammer, zoanthid, pagoda to name a few) polyp out when the lights are on and close up when the lights are out.

Theyre nocturnal corals. Those ones do not feed by photosynthesis, so they wait for night time before they feed. In the ocean, the corals and everything else spawns and is out feeding, so they take advantage of that.

Look up Phyllangia americana.

i checked it out, and apparently it's a desirable hitchhiker to obtain. From what i read, its hard to find stuff, legally.
