does anyone have 1?
I bought a used one
it works, but the return line gets pinched with lid,
i been told i can have the glass cut. seems wierd because it is a standard glass top with plastic strip. I wonder if anyone else had to cut their glass lid. Or could it be todether wrong. seems wierd

i have 125 model. i used to have it hob but just put it in a sump. i got tired of seeing microbubbles and looking at it on the back of the tank. so far i love the skimmmer its doing a great job and i bought mine used too but never had any problems with it on the back besides bubbles..

Are you running the glass lids? If so, you may want to just consider taking them off. You will get more evaporation, but it will help the aquarium maintain Oxygen/Carbon Dioxide balance. It would also eliminate having to sqeeze the return line into the small space left by your plastic strip. HTH

I would agree.......replace the glass with plastic egg crates (used in drop ceilings), (at least in the section with the skimmer). They work great, they dont restrict much light and they can be cut to any size with ease. I have a hang on super skimmer 125 on my 125g and I dont have any problems with it (except some micro bubbles and an occasional overflow when I forget to turn it off during feedings).......good luck.....I can snap a shot of my crates in action and post them if you like

If you could post a couple pics it would be good. How thick are these crates?
do you replace the whole glass piece?
I noticed the lfs has no lids at all. I just see all the warnings of fish jumping out.

I hear that!!!!!! I never had anything on top until my wrasse jumped out and landed right on the floor.....All I heard was a little "thump" and then I looked over and there he was flappin away.......I have to admit, it was pretty humorus after it was all over and done with......I got him back in the water in less then 15 seconds so needless to say, he's doing just fine

I will hunt down my camera and take a shot for you.....may take alittle while though.....
Heres a link where you can see what they look like....You usually see them in drop ceilings and they can be purchased at home depot or Lowes.

The mods shouldnt have a problem with me posting this link since they dont sell them and its for the saftey of the fish
....but ya never know....

If you end up going this route buy a pir of metal snippers and the hardware store too......They'll come in handy with sizing the crate since the standard size is 2'x4'.
O yea......and YES....you replace the whole glass piece....you will end up with a seperate crate for each section of your tank ( ex. if you have 2 cross (support) bars then you'll have 3 seperte sections along the top of your tank).....make sense??
