should healthy loking corals be quarintined? or can u just put them right in ur DT after acclimating?

Some People Put Corals In A Qt Because They Want Unwanted Hitchikers To Crawl Out. I Haven't Put Any Of My Corals In A Qt But One Day When Splitting Up A Zoo Rock A Brown Bad Looking Crab Fell Out When I Broke He Rock. So Thats What The Problem Is I Guess. Sorry For The Cap Lock.

If you qt your corals would you have to have strong enough lighting on your qt for them? Or would most corals be all right under stock florescent lighting for a few days?

Some people are now QT'ing all sps for at leat 6 weeks and treating them if needed for redbugs, acro eating flatworms, montipora eating nudibranchs.

ALL purchases should be qt'd for at least 3 weeks. Parasites can be resting on them. We recently had a case of this in Disease and Treatment. The woman had not added anything to her reef in over a year, then added a coral. She lost several fish including her Naso tang. She came out of it with 3 fish left. She wasn't looking for ich because she hadn't added any fish. A friend of mine got Marine Velvet in his tank fom LR. You HAVE to quarantine ALL new purchases.
