How long does it usally take for coralene to start growing

you need rocks with some coraline already on it...... I used purple up and it worked well

Mine took about 10 months to start growing at a decent rate. Purple up helped also.

kind of a dumb question.... will purple up help propagate different colors of corraline algae or just purple ones

I bought a live rock with some very nice light greens, and pink coralline to go with purple ones.. but they've all turned white because of my cycle. Will i get those same colors back with purple up?

I don't think you can control the color of the algae. It took my tank awhile before corraline algae took off but it was because my ca and alk were way off. Once I got it under control, the algae has been unstoppable. I also use purple up from time to time.
