I am starting a new tank and have Coralife T5 2x54 48" high output but I am intending to return it and get a Coralife Lunar Aqualight Plus Compact Fluorescent Fixture, 4X96 Watt, 48 inch. This is for my 75gal tank. The owner of my local saltwater aquarium / fish store told me that the T5's were equal to the cfl 4x96 and were cheeper. I'm so confused!!!!! help

T5's are better than compact fluorescent....although 2 t5's is not very much for your tank
what are you planning on keeping in it any corals??

I'm not sure yet maybe just a FOWLR TANK. the lumens on the T5 IS 4300 AND X2 = 8600. I can't confirm the 4x96 cfl - any info on the lumens of the cfl's?

LOL....NO
BUT think real hard...if you want just a fowlr cf will be fine...if you decide later you want to get into corals...you will definitely need to upgrade lights

I have the same 48" Coralife Compact Flourescent lights on my 75gal and I was wondering if this will be enough for corals. My guess is no. But it is plenty enough light for FOWLR.
I am going to see if I can add some Metal Halides along with these lights but haven't put too much thought into that yet as I do not have any corals.
Are there certain corals that these lights will be enough for?
