so yah i have a t5 fixture from coralife that has newer bulbs in it. i cleaned my aquarium one day so i had the light off the top. when i put it back on and turned it on it was like a white and blue strobe light. turn off the lights in the living room at night and we have ourselves a good ole rave. anyways what can i do to fix this. i hit it and it worked at that point and that was yesturday. now today its doing it again and i trying hitting it on the end like i accidently did the day before and it didn't work. i don't want to leave it on in hopes that it does decide to work for i don't want to also make my fish feel they are at the disco. anyways anybody got any suggestions.
just for clarification its the:
coralife 2 48" bulb t5 fixture.
thanx

You may have one of several problems :
there could be wear or corrosion in the socket contacts
there may be a loose connection in the internal wiring
these are what I would figure as the two most likely suspects. GL

before you post again please go to google and do this - type in - " coralife t5 " it took me 2 secs and found many listings for them. so i'm assuming they make them. and this paticular fixture is less than 6 months old.

Sorry to tell you this, but around 8 months old mine started this and then went out. I tried replacing bulbs to find out it was the fixture. I just had to buy a new one.
I'm just going to chalk it up to having to replace them every 8 months or so. You get what you pay for I guess. Mine cost about 75 dollars. Guess eventually I'll up grade to something like TEK.

i have three and this is the newest one at about 6-9 months. so far none have ever had problems. the other two i bought 1 1/2- 2 years ago. no probs with those either. i think these cost me like $40 so for the money and how long htey have lasted i would say they are doing fine.

alrighty it only powers one bulb. when you connect two it starts to flicker and when you disconnect one it keeps going. so any suggestions or am i just buying another.

check the ballast for a loose connection or something.
then I would check the bulb sockets. If the bulbs have dark edges, then the bulbs are shot.
Just my two cents
