I had the 48s on my reef b4 i upgraded i had the 150 HQI are you going with the 250s? I loved those lights the only thing I changed on mine were the actinics i went with 50/50 instead to light it up more.my corals and anenomes did very nicley under these lights.if they made an 8 ft fixture i buy one in a heartbeat ps and those moonlights are awsome

it may seem cheeper in the beginning to build your own but the cost of 3 HQI MH pendants ballest bulbs wiring of good quality bulbs ballest housings mounts .then yor pc lighting endcaps bulbs wiring ballest mounts then you have your moonlight at 30 bucks or more per light then the wiring for that and the fans next you have your canopy the cost of materials the time to build sand stain or paint inside and out and water seal it .unless you buy very cheep materials or used lighting your not looking at much less of a cost..something to concider if you dont have the time or the knowhow .JMO ps we just built a canopy for my 300 I had an electrician come and wire it for me tg hes a friend and it cost me a 6 pack of bud light lol

unleashed- i am going with the 6 foot 3x250 watt hqi with the actinics. did yours have the 10k bulbs? if so did they put off a yellowish color or a crisp white? i have heard that 10k's are yellow in color. i want a very nice white with a hint of blue but i guess you cant modify these until you get them, they say they come with 10k's and actinic from the factory but you can change the kelvin of the hqi's and aslo change the actinics to pc's or 50/50. thats what im planning on doing if i dont like the color anyway.

it may have had a slight yellow hugh to it but nothing major as they age they do get more yellow hugh. but once i added the 50/50 bulbs the color was very crisp whitish blue..I was very pleased with my 150s even im sure you will love the 250s even more .this is what mine looked like with MH and 50/50s on and the 2nd pic is how my corals looked under the lurars

I would change a few things n that list if i were you instead of the seio 820 pick up the 1500 for a few bucks more it will give you a really nice flow for a 6 ft tank i have one centered in my 8 ft tank I baught it origanally for my 120 4 ft tank.
imnot familiar with the skimmer you chose to know how well its rated but check out the new nautilus by kent I had the the on my 120 its an in sump design but it kicked out that protein like crazy.its an older model and alot of companies are selling it as a discontinued item so less that 200 in alot if web sites its rated for up to 300 gal I broke mine(dropped it) and kent replaced it free of charge and sent me a brand new one.just a few ideas for you to save a bit and still get very good quality equipment

id go with 2 one ate each mid end facing foward .unlike most powerheads these have a wide flow range.you wont feel the power as much as you would with other brands of powerheads but you will get better water movement that is more natural.without blowing your fish away.as for the other brand skimmer i suggested for external/external rated up to 400 gal type is priced at 219. and in sump TE is 177.if yo want that site send me an email at lyndog13@aol.com be happy to send to you

I would like to know why you are going to spend $1529.00 for the 72" aqualight pro when you can get them all over for about $800 brand new also I was unawar that you can get that fixture with 250 watt bulbs do they make them with them now? I would like to see it :notsure:

Thanks for the link on the light I was unaware that they made them yet.
I seen that you wanted input on power heads and a skimmer as well I had the aqua C EV-180 and loved it is was very queit when used with the queit one 4000 pump. As far as power heads I would use the Tunze they are expensive but are better than anything else there is and your water movement patterns are just about unlimited.
