im lookin at two pc light fixtures...either the 30inch coralife pc with 130watts...or the same thing but the odyssea model...the odyssea is WAY cheaper but doesnt look like it is as high quality....what should i go with? will i regret goin down the cheaper route? or are they about the same in performance? any experience good or bad with either of these will be greatly appreciated!

get a retro corallife...my jebo died last week, it was no more than a year old. The fans in it are poor, and in a years time i replaced the transformer and fans 2 times...finally the ballasts just died...pay the extra.

I just sold my 2 Current fixtures and got the Odyssea 48" 760 MH light
For the money it is a nice light. Its a copy of the coralife light. Feels well built. and my fixture does not get hot at all. the fan setup is good on it. the ballast generate zero heart..atleast on mine. The only thing the stock MH color bulb is crappy but thats no big deal. I bought 2 14k phoenix bulbs and that still puts me WELL below any other fixture of the same light configuration.
Dont buy into the old crap about house burning down and BS..the new 2007 models are TOTALLY remade. Individual powercords. my light has 12 blue lunar lights as well. and the lunar lights even have their own on off switch. The fan is NO louder then my other Orbit light was.

odyssea and coralife are two completely different brands..just because the odysseas look like a knock off version of the coralifes doesnt make them the same.

Just because they are 2 different brands. Doesnt mean they are all not made in the same factory and just slapped with different labels.
It was the same deal with one camera accessory I had. The canon Grip for my DSLR was 140bucks..yet the off brand Opteka was only 49bucks.
They where 100% identical and where actually made in the same place and used the exact same molds and materials. The only difference was the canon logo wich made it cost 100bucks more.

coralife is really esu...not the same co as odysea nor jebo.
jebo/odysea is actaully the same co from what i have read, coralife is owned by esu not realated in any way.
I have had odysea, coralife and outer orbit fixtures.
odysea was junk, coralife was a nice fixture but outer orbit is even better.

Hey Doahh , soon as I seen your name I recognized you from RCU .

I have a Coralife fixture that was only 2 months old and the ballast for the 10,000k took a dump . It took Coralife 17 days to get back to me when I called and emailed them multiple times . Luckily my LFS ordered me a new one and returned the bad one . So for my new 135 tank I will try Oddyssea especially for $150 . Just like any other hobby [like --] some manufactures have problems they need to work out and get better . Also there will always be an occasional problem with ANY brand .

i think ill go with the odyssea because the price will allow me to spend any left over money on other stuff..fish, corals, etc.. and hey..if the odyssea vrakes down..cheap replacement as compred to the coralife breaking down...if i had to replace the whole coralife unit it would cost twice as much..

spoken like the true "marketer". PC's are very good lighting sources. The right PC's can keep a wide range of corals. PC's were around for a long time... I have had 4 tanks under PC lighting in my life and I have had a large amount of corals.
MH lighting hasn't been around that long. I'll agree it is the ultimate lighting source, but I promise it has it's issues that PC and T5 does not.
