Does the LFS sell the Octopus skimmer? If not, that's why they are recommending the coralife.
The Octopus is a better skimmer.
It's not that the coralife is bad, they are just sometimes hard to adjust and often have problems with microbubbles.

No, the do not care the the Ocotpus, but they can order it, but I know if they order it, then i would be more expensive than the Coralife LOL. From what I am seeing the Octos run around 150-169????

The octo 150 will kick the stuffing out of a coralife 125, but I happen to be an ASM fan myself. The Octo will give you more bang for the buck, and will not be as difficult to adjust. I have a coralife 220 that I used for about 6 months, I then upgraded to an ASM G3. The only complaint I had about the 220 was that it would occasionally overflow, and it needed to be adjusted every couple of days or so. still not a bad skimmer for the money.

These guys are right on. The Coralife skimmer is a good skimmer for the money but it needs constant adjustment to skim correctly. It also overflows pretty easily too, mainly from adding water when you top off if you had adjusted it previously. I never had a microbubble problem with mine.

I will check it out as well... i will admit so far I have really feel for the Octo.. I also read that it is rated for up to a 180g tank, so i might have to get two, since I am getting a 180g this summer.... I must like a multiples of 3 (30g I have not, 90g that I am getting in less than a month, and 180 that I am getting this summer)
...is there such a thing as over skimming????

The octo nw 150 is a good skimmer, but it will not handle a 180 gal tank. The nw 200 would barely handle a 180, and only if it was lightly stocked and if you did the mods to the skimmer pump.
I would recommend a MSX 200 for a 180 gallon light to medium stocklist.
Oh, and a coralife 220 has no shot at a 180 gallon, I had one before and they are not nearly the skimmers that the octo's are, and the MSX's put em to shame.
As far as over skimming, I dont think you can.....I have a MSX 250 on a 120 gallon, but it is very heavily stocked.

I am gonna use the Octo NW150 for the 90 Gallon, but i will look into the other one for the 180, cause I have a tendency to overstock. LOL, like most poeple here >:)
