For my 55 gallon I was going to go for the 125, but I've heard that these HOB skimmers take up alot of room. Does anyone know if the 125 takes up alot more room than the 65, or if they r about equal???

with the 125 it will be 12 inches taller than your tank (HOB) the pump is big, and the bubble trap is big as well IMO makes a good hang on sump or in sump skimmer (i love it) and its really cheap and on sale right now on other websites. but it is a big skimmer barely fits under the stand for my 75 gallon. (3-4 inches to spare). you also need about 7 inches of space between your tank top/edge and the wall if you HOB
look into a sump/fuge system if you really want this skimmer IMO
I dont have any infor in the 65 for you but i assume its about 3/4 the size of the 125

yeah like pallan said, it sticks up pretty high. I like it dont get my wrong, i just think the hose that goes back into the tank is too big...

I have the 65 on my 55 gallon tank and I couldn't imagine putting the 125 on it. It would be WAAAAY too big. Even the 65 is pretty big and probably pumps out 150-200 gph.
It is a great skimmer for the money. I empty the cup about every 2-3 days. It is always loaded with very dark liquid and nice chunks of dark green sludge.
Make sure that you read the setup instructions very well. The return needs about 1" clearance from the bottom of the bubble diffuser. You will have to trim it with scissors. If you don't, microbubbles will go into your tank and the skimmer will back up, overflow, and leak all over your floor.
Also make sure that you close the break-in valve about 50% of the way and open the water level dial 100% of the way. After about 3-7 days you can open the break-in valve 100%. Keep in mind that water-level dial lowers the water level in the skimmer the more you open it and raises the water level the more you close it.

+1 on the 65. I have a 72 Bow with a 29 sump and the 65 is fully qualified to handle it. I can't imagine using the 125 either. It takes a while to break it in. I let it run with just the RO/DI water in the tank when i first filled it while i was waiting for bubbles and sand to settle.
