the pump has to be at the correct depth...check the instructions for depth.
That is usually the reason for noair control, either that or the airline intake is clogged

make sure nothing's blocking the outlet pipe...if you're using the box, pitch it. Just use a foam filter a little past the outlet pipe, once it breaks in it won't produce micro bubbles. I can't see what else would be causing it to overflow, mine does once in a while though...I just give the whole thing a good cleanin, then it's fine.

The pump should be about as close to the water surface as possible...like joncat mentioned, forgot about that...make sure the air tube is clear too!

make sure you try turning it both ways.
the pointy thing should be pointed to the front towards where the power head will be.
i have the same skimmer on my 75 so i know
im guessing its probably clogged or you got the return flow to deep in the water try running it completley out of the water and adjusting while it is un submerged
are there bubbles coming into the contact chamber???
try changing air tubes if not. and if possible dont break anything
good luck keep us posted!!!

well i took the box off and it didnt help any , soo i guess im deciding to throw it away or trade it in to the lfs
plenty of bubbles coming in i will try running return without tube

i pulled the return tube off it it working now but it has to be full open if i turn it down a lil bit it will overflow this really scares me it could just overflow and half the tank end up on the floor ???wont having the pump closer to the surface make more flow and cause it to flow more

I have this skimmer with the diffuser box. What do you mean by using a foam filter a little past the outlet pipe? What shape foam filter. A circular one that fits around a prefilter pipe? I'm not sure I follow you.

eventually the water level will lower these skimmers are real sensitive to water chemistry
how old is you tank
check you params
it needs to adjust to its new enviorment kinda like a new fish trust me
just monitor it and eventually the water level will go down
i bet there may be some gunk clogged in the return chamber way down there
get you some wire cleaner and ttry running it all the way down in there but turn it off and un plug it first
run the pipe cleaner wire brush through the return piping!!!
good luck!!!

The air tube sounds like might be your problem. Mine gets close to overflowing when the airtube clogs up with salt. Every couple months or so I have to take the skimmer out of my fuge and clean out the air intake on the skimmer. Try that.

Golgi: Like a pre filter for a maxi jet...I took the filter off a powersweep powerhead and just use that on the outlet.

I have the SS65 also. The directions I have say that the powerhead intake should be 3-4 inches below the water. if it is too high in the water, then there is nothing for it to push against and the flow will be too strong. This could be what is causing the cup to overflow.

Coralife Super Skimmer Needle Wheel Protein Skimmer
Safety Guidelines:
Never connect the Coralife Super Skimmer to any power source while hands are wet.
Always unplug the unit from outlet or power source before installing, replacing parts or performing product maintenance.
Never allow pump to run dry. Always keep pump submerged during operation. Failure to keep pump submerged while in use may damage the unit and/or cause unit failure.
Always leave a drip loop in the pump cord to prevent water from running down the length of the cord and reaching the power source or outlet.
For added safety, the pump should be plugged into a grounded three-prong receptacle controlled by GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) circuit breaker.
Make sure that the Super Skimmer is securely installed before operating.
Pre-Installation Setup:
NOTE: Prepare at least 5 gallons of "make-up water" to replace water used by the Super Skimmer.
Hang-on Tank Mount Placement:
Allow a minimum 6" clearance between the aquarium and the wall. NOTE: Hang-on tank mounting bracket for up to 1.375" tank mouldings.
Ensure that there is adequate unobstructed space for the needle-wheel pump inside the aquarium (9"L x 4"W x 5"H).
Sump Hook-up Placement:
Verify that there is adequate space for the super skimmer in/or outside of the sump (12"L x 10"W).
Allow a minimum 0.5" clearance between the stand and the top of the skimmer. Make sure there is enough space to remove/slide the collection cup out of the sump.
Assembly Setup:
Needle-Wheel Pump Assembly
Safety: Always disconnect needle-wheel pump from power supply before installing the Super Skimmer.
Set debris strainer into venturi chamber.
Connect the air-inlet silencer tubing to venturi air-valve.
Connect venturi chamber to pump intake on needle-wheel pump.
Main Chamber Assembly:
Attach the collection cup lid to collection cup.
Attach collection cup drain plug or 1/4" ID collection cup tubing (clear) for optional drain line.
Place collection cup on main chamber. Align collection cup threaded ring with the top opening on main chamber. NOTE: Make sure that O-Ring is in place before attaching the collection cup
Twist collection cup threaded ring clockwise and tighten. Make sure that the connection is secure between both the collection cup and the main chamber.
Attach and tighten output tubing into water output.
Attach 0.625" ID flexible tubing into pump output.
Cut flexible tubing needed for desired application. Attach flexible tubing onto chamber intake. Make sure that all tubing connections are tightly secured.

im looking at my Initial operation instruction for my coralife ss125 and this is what it says .
pre-op
1. make sure all connections are tight.
2.make sue collection cup and lid are secure.
3.3.make sure air inlet silencer is above water.
4. check water-level adjustment and make sure dial is in the open position.
initial-op
1.plug it in.
2. adjust water level adjustment dial so that the micro bubbles are below collection cup.LET PUMP RUN FOR 24-72 hours to break in the unit
NOTE:initial operation of protien skimmer may produce excess bubbles and waste.allow collection cup to fill up and discard waste water until production decreases.
operation
1.turn water level adjustment dial to raise water level within the msin chamber and cone to desired skimming operation.
dry skimming op.
1. adjust micro bubbles to .25"-.75" high inside collection cup cone.
NOTE:dry skimming will provide a dense foam layer which rises to top of the cone where it collects until the dry foam overflows into collection cup.
results:
1.dry foam (froth)
2.dark,concentrated waste material.(less volume)

well i cut the inlet tube and it raised the pump towards the top of the water and ta-da it works great it is not overflowing the cup with water now

these skimmers have to go through a "break-in" period after they have been sitting awhile, not plugged in and working.... i have to turn the knob/valve to close the flow half way... then after awhile the bubbles go down and I open the valve.
