Coraline algae flakes off glass

I was thinking of scraping all the coraline algae off the back of my tank and was wondering if there are any bad side-effects to the pieces of it sitting on the bottom of the tank? Will it just disintegrate into sand? Or should I remove all the ones I can reach? Its hard to get the ones that fall behind the rocks.
Anyway thanks in advance to any help on this.

its basically calcium all its going to do is slowly disentegrate into oolitic size particles of calcium cabonate, and eventually dissolve totally while buffering. you would have to have a serious amount die off to affect your tank in a bad way.
