Come on now, you are absolutely killing me with your outrageous humor. :hilarious
So, I guess I'm done replying to your comic humor. But, keep them coming, I'm sure you will

Man this is a quality discussion of ph and alkalinity... we rock
Excellent point, but it appears we have a comedian among us, who just won't stop.

So, how bout that Ca, Alk, pH, Mg

nah, my brain aches, here is what I am diverting myself from...
For every action, in the individual, there are countless influencing aspects that go into decisive behavior. The way these influencing aspects are perceived, or how they are attributed, go a long way in governing social behavior. Early social psychologists saw this process of seeking causes to in some way predict or control the behavior of others as the sort a ‘naïve scientist’ would exhibit in crude research (Heider 1958; Jones 1965; Davis 1965; Kelley 1967). Seeking explanation, gaining understanding, making a meaningful prediction and eventual control of some phenomena, this is the process we tend to make in attributing behavior (Heider 1958; Jones 1965; Davis 1965; Kelley 1967). This may seem as a bit lengthy, well it is. Frequently in real life situations our ‘naïve scientist’ minds jump, skip, or just leave out parts of this model. In recent years much of attributional theory research has been orientated towards the use of schemata in the individual (Fletcher 1986). Schemata are general knowledge constructs that exist to streamline stimuli preference, information gathering, cognitive organization, and even decision making. The integration between schema and general cognition has resulted in many interesting research findings from a diverse array of psychology disciplines (Fletcher 1986).

Bored yet? what is more fun anylizing attributional schemata or Ca, Alk, pH, Mg? a question for the ages. So anyway coraline algae...

Back on track now...
and do I need a KH test?
Yes, but it is dKH(carbonate hardness)-a test for alkalinity or buffering capacity.

I bought a calcium test this afternoon and my calcium is at 80 ppm. I've been using b-Ionic for about 4 days, will this bring up my calcium level???? the lfs said don't use anything else with this, but i have heard of liquid calcium. Please help me.

Can't be 80, if I were you I'd re-test your Ca. That is extremely low. I have never used B-Ionic, but I believe it is a 2 part additive(part Ca, part Carbonate). If so that should do the trick. Calcium Chloride is the specific additive that will raise only Ca levels.

A chemist friend of mine suggested in using Pickled Lime from your grocery store to raise your PH. He said to mix the stuff with RO water and put a power head and heater in there over night. Let the stuffs settle then use only the water that's on top (It don't have all the junk in it) and that would boost up your PH level. He used to have saltwater tanks too and that's what he used to do. :happyfish

The easiest way to maintain pH is with regular water changes.
If your pH is low, your aquarium is telling you there is a problem. Find that first, then treat it accordingly.
Low pH can be something as simple as a lack of good gas exchange at the surface of your tank.

the big hurt as in frank??
If I was that one, my tank would be much larger than my current system.
Since so many seem so interested, it's just a nickname I recieved while playing hockey in college.
So how bout that Ca, Alk, Mg, pH?

just buy a bottle called "purple up" and add one cap per 50 gallon tank. check your levels often and be sure to check your levels after the additive has settled or you will get inacurate results. its working great on my tank.
