Coraline question??

How long did it take to start growing good on your back glass of your tanks??? I have none yet at one time I had some patches growing then they went away when I brought my calcium and alk levels where they should be. I have alot on my live rock but none on the back glass. My live rock does look like it has some thin white stuff on top of the coraline what is this....

This is 8 months growth check the side glass out!!!!!!

What is your calcium level? The white on your rock could be coraline die back. That is not necessarily a problem.
What type water do you use? Nitrates? Phosphates?

I am using ro water from walmart or distilled. My cal and alk levels are cal 415 alk 9 dkh. I think my problem might be when I am adding topoff water i am not buffering it i just pour it in. I am adding bionic 2 part calcuim buffer everday. Could that be my problem...

Do you have any growing on the powerheads, heaters or filters? I use a algae magnet to keep my glass clean but it has been trying to grow on my glass since about a month and a half after the tank was set up. If you scrub some existing coralline with a toothbrust to get the spores airborne it will help it spread more quickly.

I was wondering i have Some LR in with my trigger im trying to grow alot of coralline algea if i keep the lights on 24 hours aday and keep calcium levels high how quick do u think it will grow? On the other rocks i have some red and purple growing on a couple of peices.The others i had last year that had lots of purple but i put them out side for about 6months so now there is none one them so they once were live but now i guess its safe to say there dead thanks for any answer

Be careful what you wish for I spent three hours yesterday scrapping coraline off the side of my 25.....
Also If you keep your lights on 24 hours a day... You will be growing trees for algea...

Lol i know thats wats gonna end up happening now i want it but when it happens im gonna want to get rid of it lol look for the next post. ( Help algae problem.) Lol
