Coraline turning color?

SO my tank is in the process of cycling and I put about 50 lbs of LR in there on top of the base rock. It has been about 3 days now and I have noticed that most but not all of the coraline on the top of the rock, facing the light, has started to turn white and now to a dark crusty green/blue. Don;t get me wrong there are still some dark purple spots but a lot of it has turned white? What is causing this? Is my coraline dying? Can I help it? I'm still cycling obviously and I have about 1.5 NH4, 40 Trates, 25 Trites, 1.024 with a 8.2 pH.
I'll go take some pics right now but i dunno how much help they will be.

OK here are some pics.... The difference between the first and second is the flash not the aquarium lighting. The thrid one used to be as purple as the second one.

The lighting is 2X65W 50/50 PC and the rocks in question are at the top about 8 inches from the light but like isaid earlier its not all the purple just some ( a lot) of it
