Does anyone currently run this light setup? My sister is setting up a tank and wants to go this route, and told her I'd try to find someone running them or have seen them. How high do these units sit off the top of the tank and what kind of heat do these put off as well?

Not much heat. Not enough to matter. You should buyt the legs that are sold seperately for like 6 or 7 bucks. The legs can slide back and forth so they will make the fixture fit for you.

Have the 30' on my 36g. Didnt raise the temp at all. The legs work great and will fit any tank. The light fixture is actually about 1/2 inch longer than my tank but the legs make it fit perfect.

Yeah it's an odd ball shaped tank, and have about 52" in lenght to work with, but not alot of room under the hood assembly on the tank......I have roughly 4" to play with under the hood height wise. Will this fixture possibly work?

I run the 72" version and it's great. I would suggest you get the legs, they make it convenient. I would recommend the unit with no hesitation.
The best part is you get all your lights in one unit and the new HQI bulbs do not run as hot.

Smart buy.

I fired mine up but don't run it right now. It seems like a great light. I have the 72" version also. I put it over my 55 for a second and it swallowed the old light. I would say it is a great buy.

I asked about these last week. This unit includes actinic and moonlights right? Can you run a 20,000K bulb as long as its 150W HQI bulb? Would these be enough for most corals in a 180 6x2x2?
I realize these are different.

The actinic and moonlights yes. If I am not mistaking you can run 20,000 as long as it is 150w. My tank is a 155 bowfront that I bought used and was told they were doing great in it with these lights. Hope I helped you out some.

Thanks Light. I saw a set up at the LFS with 3 Icecap pendants 250W 20,000K bulbs that really made everything POP looked awesome. But the cost on 3 units is close to $1100. I saw the coralife unit 72" for $850 on web

Do it right the first time! Trying to save my on lighting never worked out for me. Buy Coralife and it won't be the last time you buy lighting for your tank.
Are you talking about the lighting at In Living Color in S. Jersey?

i also have the 72" fixture and so far i love it, i just hung mine today because the legs make it hard to get inside the tank. heres a pic, sorry for the quality but the moonlights are on so i had to use the flash

Yeah DD, Living Color. I use to shop there, under the previous owners. Major improvement!
I know they are IceCaps with 20K bulbs. Do you know if they are they the PFO Mini 250w HQI?
Where are you located DD? Do you work there?
