Coralline Algae

I had these LRs which I transferred from an established tank to my new 55 gal. reef tank. I noticed that the coralline was gone when I put it to the new tank. It's been 3 months now and it hasn't propagated yet. Do you think this is due to the strong light? I've got 4-65 watts PCs, 2-white, 2 -actinic...I also noticed the the LR near the top was kind bleached out...please advise how to increase the coralline algae..MY water params are perfect...

What's you Ca level? Did it have coralline on it before you put it in your tank? You need to have SOME to start it spreading in your tank. Also coralline doesn't like strong light. But yours wouldn't be overpowering for it.

Did your salinity change a lot going from the old FO to the new tank? Maybe you shocked the algae?

My coralline seems to have just stopped dead... I blame a few hitch-hikers though! I've noticed that these urcines that hitch hiked their way into my tank has been devistating my coralline! Along with two chittons(spelling?) which I removed and a ton of these snails which a triangular shaped shell which I 'believe' to be also munching on the coralline.. although its hard to prove... I place the blame on them !

Strong lighting does not keep coralline from growing although it can cause a different color to form. Try raising calcium a little. It should be closer to 425. Another way to spread the stuff is to scrub a rock that has good coverage inside the tank. Do this in a high flow area. I have done this and I have coralline in my sump and overflow boxes.
Keep a reefin'

IME coralline grows best under medium lighting like you have. How often do you do water changes?? Test fir alkalinity, calcium magnesium & Phosphates... keep them in line and you will see growth!!

if you don't have any.... go by a piece of rubble with a lot of it. small LR will do. put it in a high flow area on the bottom of you tank. every 2 day scrub it with a tooth brush. that will kick start you growth.
