coralline growth?

Ok I know you guys have heard this question a million times before. I want to know how long did it take for most of you to see significant growth on your glass? My tank is about 3 months old and I have growth on my Powerheads and a couple of small spots on the back of the tank. I just started posting here but Ive been lurkin around for awhile and Ive seen posts where they say to brush the coralline with a toothbrush to seed the tank. Is this good advice? Also I just wanted to say thanks to everyone here from whom Ive gained alot of knowledge and insight.

if you are seeing it on the power heads then all over the tank is right around the corner. I would use a scraper and all the crap you scrape off the glass will seed the tank. that stuff is a real pain once you get it, I know it is a good sighn but what a pain in the behind to keep up with.

I usually clean my glass tank with a razor blade and when you start showing signs of coraline algae on the glass just keep the front and/or sides of the tank clean, that way you are cleaning but also seeding the rest of your tank. But yes it will be coming up very soon for ya. Only real advise that people can say about this hobby is be patient it will come.
