corals acting weird?

I just got a new rock with star polyps on it. It has been doing fine for about 2 weeks and all of the sudden only about a quarter of them are opening. Whats up with this? Also my green mushrooms are acting weird. I keep thinking they are trying to reproduce because i will see a bud for a couple of weeks then the bud disappears. Today i went in there and i am missing a mushroom that i have had for 4 months and a new one is a little bit further down from where it was? any ideas

can you give us more info on the tank lights water params. etc. what you have in the tank.

I agree with reefman. Polyps and mushrooms are sometimes like anenomes, they will move to a different spot that they like better!
Just look around your tank and you might find them!

have you recently changed anyhting in your normal routine? new bulbs or new lights alltogether? are you feeding more or less? are you dosing something new, or have you discontinued use of something that you used to add. how about water changes? done any recently?
shrooms are very hardy, but they can also be testy, opening fully one day and then staying really small for a week without you making any major changes. as for star polyps, i never really liked them myself because they always looke dbeautiful exactly when there was nobody there for me to show them to. the second someone came over to look at my tank they closed uup and left the silly purple leather to blend into my lr.

I agree to post about your tank, just incase there is an issue there. Never had mushrooms so I can't help you there, but have star polyps. The only time mine opened strangly like yours are doing is when I had an imposter lawnmower. The "LMB" got caught in the act of eating my yellow polyps and I figured it was irritating the stars also. Removed him and no problems now, open everyday. Maybe keep an eye on your fish also. HTH.

15g reef tank with coral life 20,000k and 50/50 bulbs. i do a 20% water change every 7 days. i am going to get the water tested tom. my lfs does it for me

are u serious once a month???? i have been doin this once a week thing the whole time cuz thats whats my lfs store said to do. mabe they just wanted to sell me salt.
