Corals & Anemones: What can hurt humans? Open Discussion :-)

Yeah, Aqua hut had it. I said the same thing, it was crazy to have it. Octopus's are very intelligent, they are escape artist's. They will find a way out if there is one.

So when I was doing my water change, I had the tentacles of the bubble coral stick to my fingers. I didnt feel a thing. I had a few acltually cling to me, but I didnt feel a thing. I also had my hammer touch me with no ill effects.
BUT i did get hurt in my tank. While removing some macro algea from the tank I got hurted. I was reaching behind the rock formation to get the algea that was growning near the sand and as I was reaching down, I felt a sharp poke on the back of my hand. I quickly removed my hand and looked at it. It was painful, but not bleeding. I looked behind the rocks and sure enough, the urchin was there. It was just a gentle reminder to be sure where he is when I reach into a spot blindly.
BTW, my urchin has gotten huge and has taken a liking to the coraline in my tank. I have some growing on the tank walls and in the overflow tank so I know its a healthy enviroment for it. But It doesnt seem to be growing back on the rocks so well. At what point do I think of the urchin starving and need to remove it from the tank?

Ahh, the urchin prick, those are always fun as well!
I'd remove it now. I had to remove mine once it got a taste for coralline, it stopped eating other types of algae and just decided that my rocks looked better white.

Well carp, it was one of the first living things in the tank and now seems to be one of the last living things from the start. I havent noticed it eating anything other than the coraline on the rocks. It has done a wonderful job of poking the corals and attempting to move them. I wonder how the family will take to the removal.
