Corals healing themselves???

can corals heal themselves? Specifically this toadstool/mushroom leather that I have. I think that he might have gotten a small "tear" in the top part during shipping. Two days ago it was yellow (the tear) and now that he is starting to open a bit more it is a darker brown, only bigger. Looks almost like a mucusy brown scab.

Just like Fragging (cutting) a coral. I cut my xenias and mushrooms all the time. They will heal themselves.

ive pulled shrooms off rocks before, leaving behind 2-3 tissue fragment on the rock, they all grew back to full size.
soft corals are the easiest to "heal"

it'll be fine...just like cutting your skin, it sucks...but it'll fix itself....if you get bored one day ,...you can cut it in half and have 2 leathers...hehe
