Corals in an aggressive....

Not a reef per se, but if I wanted to add mushrooms and rics maybe just for a bit of color could I make it work? Right now the tank tenants include two triggers (clown & picasso), lunare wrasse, goldstriped maroon and a snowflake eel. From what I understand of all of these they are considered not "reef safe" purely because of the fact that they will go after inverts. So would, or could, the corals be okay?

I would think so.
I also think a trigger/tang tank with sps would be cool though -- but I like my inverts too much.

you could do what I am about to do to try it out. I am going to buy some of the cheaper corals to see if my fish will pic on them. I am going to try some xenia, shrooms and zoas. not all at once tho. probably in that order

I think with your current fish list, some softies like mushrooms, xenia and rics, even some zoas would work. I tried it in my tank but the dogface and queen angel ate them all.

It should work, i have 4 triggers; a picasso, niger, clown and bluejaw; a lunare wrasse; a kole tang & 2x GSM. No problems, i have about 30 mushrooms, a large yuma(?), xenia, frogspawn. I will try to attach a pic of mine. they all do fine except the clown trigger likes to eat dying xenia but thats it???

Yay! I'm going to go ahead and move over some xenia and mushrooms tomorrow, rics and zoa's to follow if all goes well. Hopefully, there won't be any problems.

Sunday is FUN day!! hehe.. I picked up some xenia and a fragspawn... my fragspawn is pretty cool. the xenia's claw motions are awesome!! I also picked up another tang today too.. a powder brown tang... my yellow tang is bullying him a little, but slowly they are getting used to each other.. he basically took control of the left side of the tank, while my yellow has the right... Overall today was a pretty interesting day.. :)

Figured I'd update this post with how my experiment went. Tank has several softies and lps. I moved some livestock around and the current inhabitants are still the clown trigger and the gold striped maroon, although the others were swapped out with my mean yellow tang lol. I also added a few blue damsels for color...I was never a fan of the damsels but I figured they'd be my best bet to be able to hold their own...so far so good, no one in the tank has given them a second look. Everyone is still happy and healthy. Trigger has yet to touch any of my snails or even the cleaner shrimp he shares sleeping quarters with (although the shrimp has hitched a ride on the trigger from time to time). Yes I am completely aware (and prepared) that this peaceful co-existence will most probably not last, and I do have a back up tank for the trig should the need arise. However I really love the tank as is and hope that things can remain as they are.
My next endeavor is upgrading the lighting so I can maybe delve into some sps.

I have a "reef safe" , or so they said, yellow pygmy angel fish and it just wont let zoas or fox corals grow

with your inhabinants softies should be fine maybye little nibbling when hungry, but i would stay away from the sps because, if i heard right, trigger love to chew on them to grind down their teeth and etc..
