Corals smell bad

I received an order today and the water/coral smells bad (funky
) - is this normal? Do they have an odor? They look funny too - laying over not upright and so forth. I'm new to this, so I'm not sure what I'm suppose to expect.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Eh, that is most likly not a good sign. Stink is a sign of decay ie. dead or dying coral. Be careful putting them into your DT as they could cause a spike due to the decay. If you have a QT put them in there and monitor them.

Peef is right, however, have you ever smelled low tide? When I clean my tank, and drain it for a waterchange, my tank smelled exactly like low tide. I would look for obvious decay, but many corals will wilt a little during shipping.
What kind of corals are they.

Corals do smell weird at all times if yah ask me! If you don't have a bag of mush that stinks like death then you might be alright. If tissue is still holding shape and all I think overall you should be alright if its just a little "weird" smelling.

no it's not mush - at least yet
, but sure did smell funky - not like what I consider a death smell either, but human death and ocean thing death are different smells I'm sure.

I had that happen. I took the coral out, put it in a bowl of tank water, and cleaned the effected area out good. It regenerated and was fine. I agree though, if it gets any worse, just cut it off above that area, and rubberband it to another rock.

Toadstools do this. I've got one in my nano and one in my big reef. Both of them at times bend over past horizontal (they are both on top of some rocks).
If his polyps are extended like in your picture, this is a happy coral.

It's fine do not disturb it

It will settle in and start growing quickly now.
Great job!
