yep, they can also grow baby heads out of the base tissue on the stalk. mine is currently doing both, I'll see if I can get a picture that shows the babies.
ok here it is the circles are where the babies are and the line indicates where the head is slitting to make two. sorry its not a better picture. I hate my camera.

I pulled the whole colony on the LR out of the water and placed it in a bucket filled w/tank water. I pinched the stalk as far from any tissue as i could and did a quick snap as close to beginning of the stalk as possible.
