I have this same kind of question posted on another website.
what about all kinds of mushrooms? surely they all can touch?
what about all kinds of ricordias? Can all of the different colors touch?
now the tricky part...
can mushrooms and ricordias touch?
what about zoas with mushrooms or rics?
by the way reefkprz... how is that green mushroom blender tank doing?

can mushrooms and ricordias touch?yes, but the regular mushrooms generally grow faster so they may over take your rics
what about zoas with mushrooms or rics? yes they can touch but again the musrooms will tend to shade out your zoas.
by the way reefkprz... how is that green mushroom blender tank doing? not bad there arent nearly as many new shrooms as I was hoping for but there are several
I threw some answers in the quote in red, thanks for asking about the tank I cant wait to get a new computer so I can show every one pics from my new camera.

hmm. Well I will try and isolate mushrooms to a certain area of my tank, they're cool, but zoas and rics are my favorite next to pom pom xenia and if they start killing it off I will be mad.
What about rics touching zoas?
and zoas touching pom pom xenia?
That's awesome things are still growing? How long has it been since you started this experiment?
And I'm sure as you know, 10 more could pop up "out of no where" in the next 6 months.

What about rics touching zoas?they can touch but the rics will tend to lap over the zoas shading them out.
and zoas touching pom pom xenia? they can touch but the xenia in spreding may smother a couple.

keep in mind when I say zoas can touch things I am refering to stock zoanthids not protopalythoas though they too are considered zoanthids they can sting and are best kept appropriatly spaced though I have several growing up to the side of a couple different things and everything tends to shrug away from them but there have been no disasterous effects.

a bunch of Zoo's grew into one of my batches of Clove. The Clover is not a happy camper anymore

hammers, torches, and frogspawns can touch each other because they use the same toxins. If a hammer tries stinging a torch, and the torch is immune, then there is no point, and thus no poising. Zoos will not sting each other, ricordeas will not sting each other. What you have to be worried about is SPS stinging other SPS and soft/LPS. I have heard loads of stories where peoples Blastos or Acans wind up sting montis, especially encrusting ones.
