dont try to read to much onto how something is being said but look at the entire message not what you think it might be.

not a big deal just remember sitting behind a computer its hard to get a felling of what someone is trying to say sometimes it can come off pretty bad but nothing is meant by it ..

I do have to mention something about having LPS in lower lighting. I got my Green Tip Frogspawn from a guy locally. It looks fine in his tank and it has spread in numerous places, but the coloring was really light. Once in my tank, took about a couple of weeks before it started to get dark and looking healthier. Before it looks almost bleached....Even though they can handle lower lighting requirements doesn't mean it's best for them when they can do better under better lighting, especially LPS! With lower lighting, feeding is crucial! IMO.... :happyfish

im back again... he still isnt looking really good... i started him at the top, moved him down half way, now hes abot 6" off the bottom... i am feeding with the DT photoplakton and some other stuff that is red and is frozen in a bar... he has like strings stuff coming off him (looks like a slimmy substance but i dont think it is decaying).... when i use the flash light at night it seems that he is a little more open and is moving a little more... water levels are the same as before... what else should i do??? and what is a LPS???

LPS is large polop stoney. Your hammer is an lps. They need more light then softies, but usually not as much as SPS, (small polop stoney) I recommended you put it up higher in your tank, you moved it 6 inches from the bottom? Not a wise move. I had a hammer under alot more light then you have, and he was at the top of the tank, and he did great.

k i will move him back up in the morning... i started him at the top and people told me to move him to the center of the tank but he really wasnt doing anything at the top either...

You moved it before it had time to acclaimate, plus it was dropped on the floor. It could take afew days to settle in, not just afew hrs.

LPS = Large Polyp Stoney
SPS = Small Polyp Stoney

It would take a few days or so for the coral to acclimate since it was dropped to the floor like it was mentioned. They will heal themselves, make sure you have adequate flow because they can suffocate themselves with excess slime. Good Luck!! :happyfish

taznut, how is your hammer doing? Could u post another picture of it now? I had one die after I got it on line and brown slimy stuff started coming off of it. Their "poop" is brown but more stingy them slimy. I have found if the hammers or frogspawn haven't opened up within a day they just didn't make it, for me anyway. I hope yours is doing good and will survive for you. Keep us posted, I love the frogs and hammers. I have about 5 different frogs and branching and wall hammers.

My frogspawn didn't open for a couple of days and lost all of it's tentacles for some odd reason. It grew all new tentacles and looking better then ever!!! Even if it dies, don't remove it out of your tank, sometime they'll come back alive, just make sure you have enough lighting over it!!! :happyfish

Mikeyjer, Wow that is awesome, I hope I didn't throw it away for nothing

But it was slimy, stinky, smelly, brown and I was afraid it would affect the rest of my corals. If it happens again maybe I'll move it to QT and see. How long did it take to "Come Back To Life"?

A reefer friend of mine brought home a dead one from someone else's tank. It popped out a new head and it's growing just fine, forgot to ask him how long it took. I did kill one of the heads on my frogspawn accidently once and it grew back after many months later, can't remember how long it took.... :happyfish

Just leave the dead half alone, it may come back. I would find a different home for that star, don't just let it die....Someone in your area may be interested in that star!!! :happyfish
