corny castles in QT - safe or not?

i jsut set up my QT and im wondering if i can put one of those corny castles or something in there for the fish to hide and just to be funny, the only problem is that i know the diseases can stick to substrate so im wondering if they will also stick to the castle, i have some PVC tubing for the fish to hide in - so is it safe or not, is there a specific material i should get?

I put cheesy old decorations in my QT. It makes the fish feel more secure than swimming around in a bare tank. Just on occasion take it out and wash it well. I run mine through the dishwasher with no soap and then set out in the sun for about 2 days.
