Corraline Algae

I have the regular lights that came with the tank. If I add liquid calcium to my tank what are the chances of getting corraline algae to grow? I am looking at getting better lighting in the future.

you don't need better light for corraline algae, we have the lights that come with the tank and have coralline. i've never used the liquid though, we use kent powder stuff.
Do you have a piece of lr with some on it? if so, once you add calc it should spread

Most of my live rock has at least a little on it. I was wanting to have it on the back of my tank. I will try adding calcium since I have not been adding it so far. Thanks for the input.

If you add only Calcium without an appropriate amount of carbonate you're heading for disaster. Find an ALK product as well or go to a two-part additive that adds Ca and ALK in balanced amounts.

Different light intensities will give you different color corraline. You can get corraline with no light at all or with very bright and intense light.

I live in northern va (alexandria). I was going to use the liquid kent. Is there another brand that you would recommend that has the alk in it also? Thanks for the replys and the help.

I'd recommend the B-Ionic 2 part supplement. Liquid Kent is just Calcium chloride and long term use could upset your tank. It's great for occational Calcium boosts though.
Make sure you test your Ca and ALK to see what the water is doing. You don't want either of them to get too high.
