Hi, i have a 100 gallon 5 foot long with a cortez stingray in it.. yes i know he will get very big and outgrow it, i will only be able to keep him about another year. Anyways.
The LFS said they just fed him whole pieces of krill.. i have tried this and at first he wanted it so bad but it almost looked like they wouldn't fit into his mouth? He would get it right on his mouth and it just looked like he couldn't get it in there. So then i tried smaller pieces, still the same thing. tried all different sizes and now its getting to where when he sees them he just passes them up and keeps swimming. i can tell he is hungry and wants food because he swims around looking for it, but he won't take the krill.
I've tried soaking the krill in garlic... no
Tried silversides, no luck
tried ghost shrimp, no luck
i haven't tried burying the food, but i have nassarius snails and hermit crabs (which he hasn't eaten..) that would find it and cluster all over it.
anyone have any personal experience with helping stingrays eat? should i try scallops, squid, octopus, any other suggestions?
