I saw a earlier post where you were concerned about a potential problem and/or predator causing trouble...I'm not a expert on ID's but that guy would concern me for sure. Maybe bang will drop in....he'd probably be able to address your concerns.

It looks like in the photos that he's in some plastic container. So you did get him out? You could keep him in your refugium and see what happens. I once caught some big, nasty crab that had apparently been in my tank for over a year. I think it ate a bunch of my fish. But it was cool to watch in the refugium.

i think I'll get rid of it...It looks too much like a spider (fuzzy like one). Plus if this is whats killed my zoo's I dont want it near my tank.

well, a general rule of thumb is that if it's hairy you don't want it in your tank, can't tell you a specific id on it though

Not sure how true this is but I was told to look at the claws when looking at a crab. If the claws come together then you don't want them. If there is still space in the middle when closed they are generally algae eaters and safe. Like I said I am not sure on the accuracy of this.

looks to me that its claws are closed together...its skin looks identical to a kiwi fruit---wonder if it tastes the same.

Looks like a very hairy emerald crab. I hated having mysterious crabs in my tank and then have my fish missing due to them catching them.

i recently removed a crab from my display, sorry now i did not post a picture, for months i have been trying to catch it,but everytime i think i have it ,the legs just come off,he lost about 5 of his legs ,he started to try an munch on my brain corals, then he started to munch on my red plating montipora,so one morning at 2.45 am i caught him red handed,i pushed my hand in the tank an grabbed him out,was so upset at the damage he did, lets just say he had a watery grave:jumping: he was hairy some what, with small amounts of red on him, just thought i would share.

I was wondering if this mystery crab had orangish colored fur or hair on it. I caught one last year that looked like that an was about the same size as a half dollar. I took him out and put in sump until the lfs opened and I gave it to him to sell in to someone who collects weird stuff like that.

i just took it to the fish store...was identified as a "rock crab". Said it would eat corals or whatever else it can get to. So this crab has killed lots of stuff in my tank. Clam, Fish, Corals, maybe even an anemone. Hopefully thats the only one in my tank.
