Couple Questions (heading to Home Depot)

Heading to HD in a few hours, I was curious what the best way to secure PVC pipes that, obviously, is non-toxic?
Does HD sell silicone that is non-toxic? I have a tube of 3M marine silicone but I am not sure if that is non-tox?
Thank you!

PVC Primer and cement works for the pvc just wait until it dries. I have run stuff just after a couple hours dry time. Yes marine sili is fine to use. DO NOT use sili with mildew/mold inhibitors. Some have used GE I and have had no issues but I just use the stuff from All Glass.

Just a side note but I am sure you have already considered this. What you put together you may want to take apart. Think couplings

PVC Cement and Cleaner is the ONLY thing that can secure PVC to PVC securely enough for a pressurized water tight seal.
And yes, Unions are best to take PVC apart. When you buy them, take it apart and look inside to make sure the gasket is in there. A few times I've bought unions, gotten home to do my plumbing, and BAM they're gone. lol.

Oh Come on now. Bubble gum works. And gives a nice smell to the tank

Just make sure you are getting a UNION that you can take apart. As apposed to a coupling which the sole purpose is to allow you to disconnect the joining parts. I am sure that was obvious though

Sure, couplings are used in places that either need to lengthen PVC cause it's not long enough, or places that you have had to cut because you forgot to put a union on there. :D :D

A union is used to join two things both permanently or temporarily. A coupling will always allow you to separate the joining pieces. I do think there is a difference. But then again I am most likely wrong :D :D :D
