Covering a tank, Window screen?

I have a 95gal tank w/ canopy NO lights and a fan. I just got a jawfish and need to cover the tank, can't even walk by without him leaping. He hits the canopy but Theres an area in the back of the tank where he could get out. It goes along the whole back of the canopy for 4ft. I'm wondering if anyone has tried this but using window screen. I have a fan that blows in and then it would go out and pass through the window screen. Would this work? I plan to go reef soon and am getting metal halides. Can I just cut 2 rectangles and place the MH there...I'll have to get another 3 fans but how does all this sound?

I guess you could try the plasric type of screen, may melt. Not metal. Will rust. Most people use EggCrate. The hard white plastic panels with 1/2 sqare holes in it. Its sold at HomeDepot ect. in the cieling material area.

I will look into that. I just can't have ANY holes. I'm terrified about having my 150$ fish jump over board

Try using some gutter guard. It is a plastic insert used to protect house gutters from leaves and debris. It can be cut to size in is available at your Home Improvement stores. It works greatand will allow for better air flow from your fans. Here is a picture of it in use.

How big are the holes....are they smaller than 1/2 in? Are you able to buy them where the holes are different sizes?

GutterGaurd will work fine but to fully cover a 95g you will have to make a frame to nail or glue it to so you can lift it up to service and feed ect. It is kind of floppy unless you do that. You will still have to remove or lift the eggcrate too, so check out both and pick what you think is best for you.
GG is much cheaper than the EG and you should find the GG in the roofing area.

I believe the problem was the 3 to 4 inch space behind the standard hoods that they leave uncovered so you can fit all your equipment in. Is this correct Yimmy? For that space it will work great but if you are trying to cover the whole tank then I would suggest something else. (eggcrate)

I have this gutter gaurd stapled to the back of my canopy to keep my SFE in and has worked great.
