I heard at <a href="http://www.petwarehouse.com" target="_blank">www.petwarehouse.com</a> that if threatened the cowfish can relse posin from its skin and i wanted to get one is that true <img src="graemlins//confused.gif" border="0" alt="[confused]" />

The following info was taken directly from flyingfishexpress.com
"Introducing these fish to your aquarium requires an extra measure of care. They will release poison into the water when threatened and can die if this happens while they are still bagged. Be sure to acclimate them with the lights dimmed (or even off). The black liner that is provided with our shipping bags will keep other tankmates from harassing the new arrivals."
ALSO
"They should not be kept with aggressive or fast moving fishes and their skin can be damaged by the attentions of cleaner fish."

ok the will releeade posin but most fish i think know he will and dont mess with him but when they die you have to take them out right away
they vary interative with you

i had one that killed itself and everything in the tank, i did have it for over a year before it did this though. i would get another one but if it ever got sick i would remove it as fast as possible from the tank

The realease is rare like anthem said just take the measures that taku posted and don't keep cowfish with overly aggresive fish. Hey anthem I never knew that puffer released poisons into the environment, I just thought that certain parts of their flesh were toxic?

COUSIN HAD A PURPLE BOX FISH....WE MOVED HIS TANK FROM ON HOUSE TO ANOTHER....PUT ALL 10 OF HIS FISH IN A NEW PLASTIC COOLER (AFTER BEING WASH OUT) ALL THE FISH WITHIN A DAY DIED EXCEPT FOR THE BOX(WHICH A COW FISH IS). POISON???????
