wich one would be better for a reef the one with the bio filtration or the one with out

i have used both. the one with the bio seems to also collect crap on the bio mass which after awhile restricts flow, the one without seems not to have that problem

i think the 2r is the one that is made to be used for a reef, how big is your tank

Better to let your LR and LS handle the filtration and just have the bakpak do the skimming. Also when you take out the biobale you can then put the heater in this compartment and not in your tank. I used the Bakpak for six month with the biobale and had high nitrates and a bunch of crap in the biobale once I removed it my nitrates went down within two months and I like not haivng to see my heater on the back of the tank.

there 2R is the reef ready one. i dont know the difference between the 2 and 2R
